Yamaha Racing Ready For Super X Finale
Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 1:01PM
Brisbane's QSAC Stadium will hold the seventh and final round of the Monster Energy Super X Championship this weekend. All three of Yamaha's factory supported race teams are primed for a big finish to the championship.
CDR ROCKSTAR YAMAHA
Jay Marmont has yet again proved to be one of the most consistent racers in Australia racking up top five results in nearly every race and at every round. Marmont sits in a comfortable second place in the Pro Open class on board his YZ450 but is fed up with making the podium and is now chasing race wins to finish off another outstanding season by the Wollongong based racer.
"It's nice to get good results and be on the podium but I'm a racer and my job is to win races. I should have won last week in Parramatta and Brisbane is my last chance to get on top of the box," Marmont states.
Brisbane will also be Jeff Alessi's final event in Australia as the US based rider heads home after this weekend. Alessi has shown flashes of brilliance during his time in Australia but yet to lock down a top position in a nights racing.
"The CDR Yamaha Rockstar Team has been great hosts during my stay in Australia. The team is ultra professional and their race bikes are world class. It would be nice to repay them for their hospitality with a win this weekend in my final race in Australia," Alessi comments.
SERCO YAMAHA
The Brisbane event is the teams only home town event with the Serco Yamaha team based just down the road at Capalaba. Ford Dale will again be joined by Adam Monea in his final guest ride for the team with both riders looking to capitalize on their speed shown at last weeks' event in Parramatta.
"I was so angry with myself," Ford Dale states. "I was in a good position to qualify for the final five at Parramatta only to fall off and not make it. I can't afford to make those mistakes at this level so I plan on a clean run at Brisbane."
Monea also found himself in a similar situation when he crashed during a qualifying race in last weeks' event. Monea has adapted quickly to the Serco Yamaha machine and was instantly competitive on the factory bike only to fall off and not make the all important five rider final.
"The positive from last week was that I was able to ride the bike fast and felt right at home on it. I have had another full week to practice and I'm positive that I will be able to improve my position this week in Brisbane," Monea explains.
GYTR ROCKSTAR YAMAHA
Luke Styke is determined to finish off his year with a bang at the final round in Brisbane. Styke suffered from some bad luck in Parramatta after being involved in first turn crashes, but still sits inside the top 10 in the overall points in the Pro Lites class.
Styke will have the added motivation of racing in front of his team mate- the injured Harley Quinlan. Quinlan who suffered serious spinal injuries during the series has been given clearance by the PA Hospital to attend the event and his appearance will be a morale booster for Styke and his team.
Yamaha riders will also make an appearance at Team Moto Moorooka on Friday afternoon starting at 3.30pm. There will be autographs and posters as well as jerseys and other promo material to give away. Team Moto Moorooka is on Ipswich Road, Moorooka.
