Triumph Australia launched the new Rocket Roadster on 9th February 2010, incorporating the 'Triumph Rocket Roadster World Cup Challenge'.
Six Journalists from some of Australia's leading motorcycle magazines took part in a road ride from Melbourne to Heathcote Dragway in Regional Victoria. The bikes were put through their paces over and over again in an elimination 'Chicago Shootout' competition that resulted in a final race off between Jeff Ware of Rapid Motorcycles and diminutive Kellie Buckley of AMCN, the latter taking out the trophy with an impressive 12.14 sec' pass! Especially impressive when you consider that it was her first time on a Rocket, AND a Drag strip!!!
Assisted on the day by well known Drag racer 'Pommy Pete Allen' and son Maurice, the 'Rocket Roadster World Cup' was, "a fun way of launching the Roadster", commented Triumphs Marketing Manager Mal Jarrett. "As far as we are aware, we are the only ones in the World to have had a Rocket Roadster Drag challenge, so as far as we are concerned it was a World Cup event"!
Also on hand to meet the press was Victorian Christian Cassela who will be piloting a Daytona 675 in this years Supersport series, and Stunt Maestro Lukey Luke wowed the gathered throng with a display of his finely honed stunting skills on his Street Triple, then amazed everyone by jumping onto a new Roadster and pulling monster wheelies and burnouts. The Rocket Roadster is available from Triumph Dealers now...
