Kawasaki’s 2010 Models - Dedicated to Safety

There’s no doubting the fact that constant development over time has resulted in substantially increased safety measures being implemented in the manufacturing process of motorcycles today. Kawasaki is a brand at the forefront of safer motorcycle manufacturing, boasting ten 2010 road models (more than half its total number of road models) featuring ABS as standard equipment. Kawasaki developments like KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control), TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) and K-ACT ABS (Kawasaki Advanced Coactive-braking Technology) that come as standard equipment on certain Kawasaki models, indicate that the manufacturer is playing an active part in the continued development of safer motorcycles.

Arguably the safest motorcycle on the road today is the 2010 1400GTR ABS Sports Tourer. On top of features like KTRC and TPMS provided as standard equipment, the model features an exciting new Kawasaki development called Kawasaki Advanced Coactive-braking System (K-ACT ABS). In simple terms, K-ACT ABS is a “linked” ABS system that distributes optimum brake force to both wheels via an independent Brake ECU to provide confident, highly effective braking in all situations. The front and rear wheel speeds and front and rear brake line pressures are monitored via the Brake ECU which operates the ABS Pump to ensure an optimum braking pressure to both front and rear brakes.

After testing the 2010 1400GTR on wet and slippery roads at the models European Press launch in Tuscany, Italy, Two Wheels magazine said, “On any other bike, I would have undoubtedly taken a nosedive into a ditch. Luckily, the 1400GTR has a ‘one track mind’. In wet circumstances like these, it’s good to know there are two lime green guardian angels watching over you.”  (2Wheels 01/10 Issue)

The K-ACT ABS system is not restricted to just the 2010 1400GTR ABS. The 2010 Vulcan 1700 range consisting of the Voyager, Nomad, and Classic (all just released) also rolls off Dealership floors with K-ACT ABS as standard equipment.

With rider safety a primary concern of Kawasaki engineers, many 2010 road models receive ABS as standard equipment including the Z1000 (soon to be released), Versys (soon to be released), ER6-n (released today) and Ninja 650R (released today). To ensure that the learning process is as safe as possible, Kawasaki also offers ABS as standard equipment on two 2010 Learner Approved models- the Ninja 650RL and the ER6-nL* (both to be released shortly).

Kawasaki is proud of the abundant safety features available on its 2010 model range and with safety research & development constantly reaching new levels at Kawasaki HQ in Japan, the brand looks forward to further exciting developments in years to come.
