MAXWELL SECOND QUICKEST AT DARWIN ASBK BATTLE

Current points leader of the Australian Superbike Championship series, Wayne Maxwell, has piloted his Demolition Plus GAS Honda Racing CBR1000RR into second position at today's Round two practise session in the country's far north.

Maxwell's time in the Superbike class was just .648 shy of today's top place getter Josh Waters, with both riders breaking the current lap record in humid 32 degree weather.

Darwin's Hidden Valley Raceway is hosting the premier road racing series this weekend for the first time in 11 years, with the majority of riders - including Maxwell - having never ridden the circuit before.
