Star performers return to 2011 Honda Australian Junior MX

Honda 2011 Australian Junior MX Championships

The 2011 Honda Australian Junior Motocross Championship looks set to be an epic showcase of talent, with more than 660 entries confirmed for a week of Motocross action at Murray Bridge on 1-8 October.

Among the mammoth haul of entries are a raft of star performers from the 2010 Championship, including Hunter Lawrence, Scott Mann, Wayde Carter, Hayden Mellross, Wilson Todd, and Mackenzie Tricker.

Young Queensland rider Hunter Lawrence, who claimed first in the 2010 65cc Under 11 and second in the 150cc U12 classes, will be looking to consolidate his podium performances when he takes on the 65cc U13 and 85cc U12 classes. The twelve year old has form on his side coming into the event, with two Queensland titles and a fifth place at the recent 2011 FIM Junior Motocross World Championships.

Lawrence will be joined on the starting grid by fellow Queenslander and National Junior Motocross team member Scott Mann, who also claimed two titles at last year’s Championship, the 85cc U16 and 100-150cc U15 crowns.  Mann will flying the Queensland flag in 2011 in the 15 years classes in both 100-150cc and 250cc.

Wayde Carter, who was victorious in both the 85cc and 150cc U14 classes in 2010, will travel from his home town of Whittlesea in Western Victoria to add to his bulging trophy cabinet in the 150cc U14, 100-150cc U15 and 200-250cc U15 classes.

Hayden Mellross from New South Wales will be back to defend his 200-250cc U15 title winning form, stepping up to take on the 15 years premier 100-150cc and 200-250cc classes.

Queensland rider Wilson Todd, fresh from the 2011 FIM Junior Motocross World Championships, will move up from the U11 65cc class he conquered in 2010 to contest the U14 years 85cc and 100-150cc classes.

New South Wales rider Mackenzie Tricker will travel from her Sydney home to contest the 200-250cc Womens U16 class, and will be looking to improve on her 2010 second place finish. Tricker will enter the event on the back of a strong year which has included a victory in the Junior Girls class of the Australian Junior Long Track Championship.

The 2011 Championship, proudly sponsored by Honda, will be hosted by the Murray Bridge Sporting Car and Motorcycle Club at the Monarto Motocross Track in South Australia from 1-8 October.
