Australian Motorcycle Expo - Gold Coast

Gold Coast gears up to host anticipated motorcycle, scooter and PWC showcase

Queensland's Gold Coast will host its third instalment of the Australian Motorcycle Expo, Australian Scooter Festival and Australian Personal WaterCraft (PWC) Show from February 17-19, 2012.

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre's largest consumer show will utilise over 10,000 sqm of indoor space as well as foyers and the surrounding outdoor precinct.

A pastime or a passion, the motorcycle, scooter and PWC lifestyle is actively embraced in South East Queensland, and the event aims to cater for riders of all experience levels and budgets.

Event Manager Mark Petersen said visitor experience was a primary focus of the Expo, with demonstrations, attractions, test rides and guest appearances to accompany over 100 different manufacturer, accessory and service stands.

"We're excited to announce the return of the Australian Motorcycle Expo, Australian Scooter Festival and Australian PWC Show to the Gold Coast next February," said Petersen. "The region lends itself to a lifestyle on two wheels and the water and there has been plenty of interest in the staging of our next exhibition.

"The motorcycle, scooter and PWC industries in Australia are driven by brands, businesses and people who are passionate about this lifestyle. As a result we see little effort spared when it comes to assembling complete, informative and entertaining displays.

"Diversity is a key appeal of this lifestyle. Leisure or commuting, on-road, off-road or on the water, a rider for just days or decades, there really is something here for everyone to enjoy and participate in.

"As well as showcasing new motorcycles, scooters, PWCS and parts, accessories and services, the event aims to inform, educate and entertain. Safety seminars, special guests, competitions, bike builds and action demonstrations from freestyle motocross, freestyle PWC, trials and mini bike riders will make this a must-visit for all riders and their families."

Petersen predicted the Gold Coast would benefit from the injection of extra tourist dollars with many exhibitors and visitors, including clubs and enthusiast groups, travelling from interstate.

"The Australian Motorcycle Expo attracts plenty of interstate interest along with that from South East Queensland," he continued. "Many have already planned gatherings on the Gold Coast for the weekend and the local area is sure to benefit as they check out the many tourist attractions and sample the local hospitality."

Ticket prices, opening hours and further event details are now available on motorcycleshow.com.au. Connect with the event on facebook at facebook.com/australianmotorcycleexpo.

Australian Custom Bike Championships

The 2009/10 East Coast Custom Australian Custom Bike Championship presented by Heavy Duty Magazine and QBE Insurance held the final of its three state-based competitions in Melbourne, with Brad Fraser from 101 Customs crowned the overall winner.

For their efforts, the winner received a brand new S&S 'X-Wedge' Engine.

Strong sales, new models and features get Melbourne bike expo up to speed

Organisers of the Australian Motorcycle Expo Melbourne are expecting the November 26-28 event to be one of the biggest on record with an overwhelming response to site sales at the mid-year mark.

Melbourne Bike Expo

The expo is set to expand with the addition of the Australian Scooter Festival and Australian PWC Show, making it a 'must-see' for fans of all things two wheels and personal watercraft.

As well as these new features, Event Manager Mark Petersen of Exhibitions and Trade Fairs suggested a number of new motorcycle models fresh from the EICMA world trade show were set to make their Australian debut at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

"Preparations for the event are gaining momentum on a number of levels," said Petersen. "We have had an incredibly strong response from the industry rushing to secure exhibition space with over 60% sold to date, as well some hints from major manufacturers that some very exciting new bikes will be freighted direct from EICMA.

"The addition of dedicated scooter and PWC displays will make for our biggest Australian Motorcycle Expo Melbourne yet."

An encouraging response from manufacturers and distributors will ensure a diverse range of new motorcycle models are on show.

The entertainment and attraction schedule looks set to be packed to capacity with the country's top freestyle motocross riders locked in alongside the ever-popular mini moto displays, plus more to be announced.

Judges will determine the winner of the East Coast Custom Australian Custom Bike Championships presented by Heavy Duty Magazine and QBE Insurance, with a number of new entries set to go up against the winners from the Gold Coast Expo.

Amongst a number of giveaways, visitors will also get the chance to enter the competition to win a $40,000 custom chopper thanks to Australian Motorcycle Imports.

The new-look Australian Motorcycle Expo website (www.motorcycleshow.com.au) will be visitors' online destination for all event details, news and exhibitor information and will grow in the coming months as more features are revealed.

The website will also provide visitors the opportunity to pre-purchase their entry tickets to the event.

Thousands set to converge on Australian Motorcycle Expo

Motorcycle and jet ski enthusiasts look set to converge on the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in their thousands over the weekend.

Doors to the Australian Motorcycle Expo opened this morning, with a number of feature bikes stealing the spotlight.

Kawasaki and Yamaha introduced a host of new and updated models to their 2010 range, with the latter also showcasing its unique concept commuter, the EC-f.

BRP's Can-Am Spyder RT captured the spotlight on its stand. The touring model sees a host of additional creature comforts, including increased storage and advanced audio integration and the top-level RT-S even gets adjustable suspension and cruise control.

A special delivery on the Ducati exhibit was the Multistrada 1200, featuring a revolutionary electronic riding mode adjustment. The bike machine was freighted to Australia from Italy especially for this week's event.

Piaggio's X7 Evo 300 is sure to be a hit with scooter riders. The updated model benefits from a hefty torque boost and lowering of the RPM at which maximum horsepower is developed, amongst other features.

The 'New American Motorcycle' makers, Victory Motorcycles showcased a host of new bikes sure to see the brand continue its growth. Custom styling and endless accessory options define its range.

BMW's exceptional S 1000 R is guaranteed to draw crowds at the expo. The Superbike has only just landed on Australian shores and is already creating huge hype. An optional BMW Motorrad Motorsport colour scheme is a strong reminder of the racing heritage it is built upon.

Suzuki's Australian Superbike Champion Josh Waters was on hand to chat about his successful 2009 season and plans for a repeat performance as his 2010 campaign kicks off. Suzuki showcased a broad range of 2010 models, including the full GSX-R range and its recently released RMX450Z.

Event Manager Mark Petersen said the range of new bikes on display at the 2010 was extremely impressive.

"Once again the manufacturers have invested a lot of expense and effort into creating some very visually-exciting displays, as well as featuring a comprehensive range of motorcycles," said Petersen.

"There simply is no better place to sample so many brands and bikes under one roof."

Complimenting the manufacturer display is a wide range of accessory and apparel exhibitors, plus an exciting entertainment program.

"The Yamaha Action Arena is set to go off all weekend long with freestyle jet ski, freestyle motocross, mini bike and trials riders entertaining the crowd with their skills."
