Jay Marmont Wins 2011 Manjimup 15 000

Three time Australian Motocross Champion, CDR Rockstar Yamaha's Jay Marmont added to his legendary status by winning the grueling Manjimup 15 000 event in Western Australia over the weekend.

Jay Marmont takes out the Manjimup 15000

Long seen as one of the toughest and most challenging events in Australia, the Manjimup 15 000 isn't for the weak, the unfit or the faint hearted as it pits the best riders in Australia in a four moto shootout on one of the toughest tracks going round. That is the perfect scenario for the never say die, tough as nails Marmont.

Jay Marmont battled with an international field that included the UK's Bryan Mackenzie and Jamie Law, the USA's Bryce Vallee and Michael Phillips from New Zealand as well as a host of East Coast and local hot shots to take the victory and write his name on the trophy for a record third time, the only rider to have won the event three times.

Marmont claimed three race wins, including the all important double points final race, and a second to take the victory on the day, 13 points clear of Bryan Mackenzie.

"I love racing at this event," Marmont said after a long day. "The track is easily one of the best in Australia, the club do a great job promoting it and there is always a good atmosphere here."

"Winning an event like this is just what I needed to get my season back on track and get some momentum going my way in the MX Nationals."

"I now head back to Queensland where I'm going to race at a local event up there before heading to Coonabarbran for round six of the MX Nationals.

Jay Marmont And CDR Rockstar Yamaha Forge Ahead In 2011

Jay Marmont has signed with CDR for 2011

CDR Rockstar Yamaha is proud to announce that reigning and three-time Australian Motocross Champion, Jay Marmont, has extended his relationship with the Yamaha factory team for the 2011 season.

Marmont will continue to headline Yamaha's motocross campaign for the 2011 season making this the fourth year with CDR Rockstar Yamaha in what has become one of the most successful partnerships in Australian motocross history.

"We are delighted that Jay has agreed to race with us again for 2011," enthuses team boss Craig Dack. The last three years have been very rewarding for both Jay and the team and we look forward to adding another successful year to this relationship."

"The Marmont's are a real motocross family and the network of support Jay has around him is crucial to his success. His parents Peter and Sharon, Jay's wife Abby and his close knit circle of friends are all part of the CDR working family and we are happy to be associated with them," Dack concludes.

Marmont has been the dominant rider in Australian motocross since joining the CDR Rockstar Yamaha team and the decision to continue was a relatively simple one for the Wollongong based champion.

"The CDR Rockstar Yamaha team is the best in the business with great bikes, the right infrastructure and the hardest working crew in the pits. As a team they have the same goals as me and we all work together to make those goals a reality."

"The process was a simple one where I wanted to race for the team, CDR wanted me to stay and we got the deal done. I couldn't be happier and think that we can continue to build on what is already a very successful partnership," Marmont offers.

The new deal will see Jay defend his national motocross championship for the fourth year running and also compete in the high profile and internationally recognised Australasian Super X series that kicks off in October 2010. Jay will campaign the revolutionary Yamaha YZ450F, the most technologically advanced motcross bike on the market.

In 2010 Jay Marmont won his third Australian MX National motocross championship in a row and etched his name alongside the legends of the sport. Marmont is a fierce competitor known for his dogged determination and his ability to win races when they must be won.

He also earned a spot on the three man team that represents Australia in the 2010 MX Olympics - the Motocross of Nations. Simply put, Marmont is the man to beat in Australian motocross.

CDR Rockstar Yamaha is Australia's longest running and most successful motocross outfit. Coming up on 20 years as the premier team in the sport, CDR Rockstar Yamaha has amassed over 20 national championships and changed the face of the sport with their profile, professionalism and results.

Cody Cooper takes out Round Six of Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals

Rockstar Mx Nationals

New Zealander and Team Rockstar Motul Suzuki rider, Cody Cooper, has won the sixth round of the 2010 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals at Wodonga on Sunday 27 June.

Meanwhile CDR Rockstar Yamaha’s Jay Marmont has retained his Series lead and now sits 16 points clear of Kawasaki Racing Team’s Billy Mackenzie.

With the thermostat dropping to minus two degrees in the early hours of the morning, riders were in for a chilly start to the round.

After struggling in the first half of the season, Cooper finally found some consistent form, stringing together a run of strong rides, however he wasn’t alone with a number of Aussie riders stepping it up a gear and putting on a spectacular show for fans at the Wodonga circuit.

Cooper was fastest in qualifying, however with Honda privateer Dean Ferris merely 0.001 of a second behind him, and four other riders all within one second, the day was shaping up to be massive.

In the first moto, Mackenzie looked to continue his strong form from previous rounds, leading for the majority of the race with Marmont, CDR Rockstar Yamaha’s Cheyne Boyd, Cooper, and Cougar Bourbon Honda Thor Racings Todd Waters all chopping and changing until the final laps of the moto.

Cooper came from seventh place at the beginning of the race, gradually picking his way through the field to catch and pass Mackenzie on the very last lap to take the win.

The Kiwi continued his strong form in the second moto, scoring the holeshot and taking command of the race ahead of JDR Motorex KTM’s Tye Simmonds and Mackenzie.

While the front runners didn’t change, Marmont was facing challenges of his own; trying to keep as many Championship points ahead of Mackenzie as possible.

At the flag, Cooper had stormed out to an eight second lead, ahead of Simmonds with Mackenzie wrapping up the moto in third.

The final moto, however, belonged to the ‘Boy from Bourke’, with Simmonds taking the lead ahead of Mackenzie and reigning Champ Marmont within the first lap.

At times it seemed Mackenzie was catching the 18 year old, however the determined rider powered on to take his first Pro Opens win since joining the class this year.

Again Mackenzie was forced to settle for second place ahead of Marmont who managed to hold onto third despite a late challenge from Cooper.

Quotes:

Cody Cooper – Round Winner

“The last few weeks have been massive for me and the team,” Cooper said.

“I’ve been over here and we’ve been working so hard to get the bike right and getting me sorted and the entire team has done an amazing job.

“We made some changes to my program as well, and I’ll even make some more changes as a result of today which will be even more positive.

“I’m pumped to be up on the top step and certainly hope to keep it this way for the rest of the Series.”

Jay Marmont – Series Leader

“I’m happy to still have the red leader plate, but to be honest I’m disappointed with my performance today and we’ve got a lot of work to do,” Marmont said.

“I put a lot of pressure on myself and I ride quite tight, which is probably why I pumped up in the first moto and made a few mistakes.

“I’ve got to go home and work harder because I want to win races; I want to win the Championship by winning races, not merely by coming second or third each time.”

"I am stunned and saddened by the news. Our thoughts and prayers are with the McFarlane family at this time and Yamaha expresses its deepest sympathy to the entire family. Motocross has lost a true competitor and a true professional," said Yamaha Managing Director, Steven Cotterell.

TRIBUTES
CRAIG DACK - CDR ROCKSTAR YAMAHA
"I can still recall that day in Broadford back in 2000 when Andrew took on the world. His effort made every Australian at the track stand up and cheer. The first 20 minutes of the opening moto made for one of the best atmospheres I have ever experienced at a motocross event, all because of the efforts of Andrew and his desire to succeed.

"His loss as a friend, competitor and rider on the Australian scene is huge and he will long be remembered as pioneer of Australian motocross and a popular rider within his peers."

RAY HOWARD - YAMAHA MOTORSPORT MANAGER
"The atmosphere and the look in the riders’ eyes last Sunday said it all. Andrew’s death was devastating to all and leaves an un-fillable hole in the motocross landscape. He was dedicated, professional, talented and determined; all that assets that fuel a competitor to a level so few achieve.

"On behalf of our race teams, we are honored to have worked with Andrew, proud of his achievements and gutted by his death. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the McFarlane family."

Yamaha Racing To Hit Horsham For MX Nationals Championship Opener

Yamaha's three factory supported motocross teams are about to be unleashed at the opening round of the Rockstar MX Nationals at Horsham in Victoria on March 28.

Cheyne Boyd - CDR Rockstar

Their quest for national motocross glory starts this weekend on the hard pack and rut infested Horsham circuit and is sure to be a test for all riders as they begin the title chase in all three championship classes, Pro Open, Pro Lite and Under 19s.

CDR Rockstar Yamaha - Pro Open
The double A sided team of Jay Marmont and Cheyne Boyd plan to pick up right where they left off in 2009, dominating the local racing landscape. Marmont and Boyd cleaned house in 2009 with a 1-2 finish in the MX Nationals and now on board the all new Yamaha YZ450F are primed to continue their recent success.

"We have just finished testing the new bikes and it has probably been the most extensive testing we have done since I have been with the team," offers Cheyne Boyd, a six year veteran at CDR Yamaha. "The team went over every component of the bike and personalised it to suit and I have no problem saying this is the best race bike I have had."

For Boyd, from Victoria, it is a home round of sorts with the Horsham event in his home state and he would like nothing better to reel off a win in front of friends, family and sponsors.

Team owner, Craig Dack of the Geelong based team, is also looking forward to unveiling the new bikes and getting stuck into the season.
"Testing has gone really well and both the riders look on song. It is also handy to have the opening round in our home state and the team plans to make a great start to the season. We have done our homework, the riders have prepared as good as I have seen them and we are right to go. Lets go racing!"

SERCO YAMAHA - Pro Lites
Yamaha's official Pro Lite race team rebounded well in 2009, finishing the year off strongly and now look to carry that momentum into 2010. The team enlisted Ford Dale to partner Kirk Gibbs on the 2010 YZ250F. With Dale happy to be back with the Serco team and really enjoying riding the new bike.

"After a year on the 450cc machine, it feels awesome to ride a 250 again. I feel much stronger on the bike than previous years and also the amount of testing and development we have done gives me plenty of confidence going into the first round. My body is back to 100% and Serco Yamaha have got the bike in great shape. I plan on making 2010 my best year yet," Dale says confidently.

Head technician Michael Marty also feels things are back on track with Serco Yamaha and suggests the team are in for a big season.

"The past two seasons haven't been great for us, so everyone put their heads down during the off season and worked on getting this team back where it belongs. The riders are fitter and faster than they have ever been, we have worked tirelessly to deliver the right bike package for them and as a team we are totally prepared for the opening round at Horsham."

YAMALUBE / GYTR / ROCKSTAR YAMAHA - Pro Lites /Under 19
The Yamaha young guns are full of youthful excitement ahead of the opening round at Horsham and already have shown plenty of good form in 2010. Local preliminary races have seen all four riders win races and with the exception of Harley Quinlan, the team will hit the first round, fit, healthy and ready to go.

Luke Styke, winner of the 2009 Under 19 championship has made the leap into the Pro Lite class and is set to create havoc, as only Styke can, amongst the established Pro Lite riders.

"Names mean nothing to me. I just want to ride my bike as fast as I can until someone tells me to stop and thats what I'm going to do. I didn't even take a break over Christmas, I just kept on riding and training for this season and I can't wait to get out there," Styke said.

For Ross Beaton, the Horsham event is also significant as he resides in Sale, Victoria but loves the long ruts of Horsham.
"I really like the Horsham track as it reminds me of the Penguin circuit in Tasmania where I grew up. I reckon its cool to really crank the bike over in the turns and the ruts at Horsham allow you to do that several times a lap."

All Yamaha riders will be available throughout the day to sign posters at Horsham. The event starts at 8.30am, please visit www.mxnationals.com.au for all the details.
