Serco Yoshimura Yamaha At Full Strength For Appin Motocross

Jake Moss, Serco Yamaha

The return of Jake Moss and fully fit and raring to go Kirk Gibbs and Ford Dale see the Serco Yoshimura Yamaha Team at full strength for round two of the Rockstar Energy MX Nationals to be held at Appin Raceway, south of Sydney this weekend.

The weekend will mark the first appearance of Jake Moss in Serco colours in 2011 after a shoulder injury sustained at a German Supercross late last year has left him on the sidelines, until now. The hard charging rider has spent the last few months in recovery mode and while not back to 100%, the shoulder is ready to go and he has been back on the bike in recent weeks.

Moss, from Sussex Inlet, only a few hours south of the Appin Circuit is excited about his return to racing, to Serco and at what is his home town event.

"There is nothing worse than watching a race you are supposed to be in," Moss offered after being track side at round one. "But, considering the injury, the recovery process has been pretty good and now it's just a matter of building track time and race conditioning."

"I only have missed one round and with this being a 36 race championship; there is plenty of time to get back to full race speed. I have set some modest goals for this weekend, but look forward to getting back into racing at a track that is close to home and with my friends and family watching," Moss finishes.

The three week layoff since round one has seen Kirk Gibbs fine tune his racing skills at a local event in Queensland. Gibbs hit round one of the Sunshine State Series at Warwick and took a wheel perfect four wins from four starts and sees it as the perfect preparation heading into the Appin round.

"With all the wet weather at the start of the year, it was really hard to get some actual race time because of all the cancellations. The Warwick event is great for me as I got behind a start gate, rode on a rough and challenging track against some good opposition. I feel much better for the hit out and I'm ready to go this weekend," Gibbs states confidently.

Ford Dale hasn't exactly been sitting on the couch either. With close mate Dean Ferris, Dale went on a riding safari in Western New South Wales and hit up a wide range of tracks and conditions. The two thrill seekers rode wherever and whenever they could and challenged each other to go faster and harder during their training sessions.

Dale again showed blistering speed at the opening round and for round two the goal is to get some consistency into his racing and bring home a podium result.

"I like to ride a lot and Dean is the same as me, so we decided to get on the road and hunt out some good tracks where the weather wouldn't be an issue."

" I have done most of my training on a 450 and I feel that helps me when stepping back onto the 250. It gives me a bit better strength and also makes me think a little more on the track and cut out the silly mistakes," Dale said.

Action starts at Appin Raceway at 8.30am and for more information, please visit; www.mxnationals.com.au

Team Kawasaki Motivated for Moree

Cody Mackie - KRT

Kawasaki Racing Team riders, Billy Mackenzie, Cody Mackie and Luke Arbon head to the 7th round of the 2010 Australian Motocross Championship at Moree, NSW, full of confidence and optimism. With Mackenzie currently sitting in 2nd place in the Championship in the Opens class and Mackie in 3rd place in the Pro Lites class, both riders will be riding for valuable Championship points as they strive for Championship Titles. Under 19s rider Luke Arbon makes a sooner than expected return to racing, lining up this weekend after breaking his wrist at the previous round. Currently sitting in 5th, Luke is striving for a top three finish to the series.

With more moto wins and pole position qualifications this season than any other Opens rider, KRT’s Billy Mackenzie has been the rider to beat throughout the season. An unfortunate crash early in the day at Canberra affected his overall points haul and places him second on the leader-board, however his current speed and form stands him well in his chase for Championship glory.

Billy says, “I’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain over the next two weekends. I’ll just go out there and race the race-track and whatever happens happens.”

Sitting 3rd in the Pro Lites class and only two points shy of 2nd place is KRT’s Cody Mackie. Showing his best form so far in the series at the last round (finishing 2nd overall) Cody heads to Moree confident of further success.

Cody says, “I’m really excited about this weekend. It’s a new track and I haven’t ridden there so I’m really looking forward to getting into it. I want to finish these last few rounds on a high. I had my best round last round and want to improve on that this weekend.”

Striving for a top three Championship finish in the Under 19s’ class, Luke Arbon will amazingly line up at Moree this weekend on his KX250F after injuring his wrist last round. Luke’s earlier than expected come-back shows his high level of fitness and gritty determination to represent both himself and his team as best he can.

KRT Manager Troy Carroll is very happy with the team’s preparation heading into Moree, saying, “It’s been another great 3 weeks. Both Billy and Cody’s preparation has been great. It’s been unfortunate that Luke hasn’t been able to ride since injuring his wrist at Wodonga but he will be racing this weekend.”

“I think myself and the mechanics have worked really hard the last few weeks. We haven’t left any stone unturned so that the riders have the best possible opportunities to win over the next two weekends”.

KRT will be racing for precious Championship points at Moree this Sunday 18 July before the season wraps up the following weekend at Coolum QLD.

Kawasaki - KRT Takes Red Plate to Canberra

Thanks to a sensational opening round by KRT’s newest signing Billy Mackenzie, the green team takes the coveted Opens class Red Plate with them to the second round of the Australian Motocross Championship in Canberra this Sunday 18 April where the team plans to exceed its Championship lead even further.

Billy Mackenzie's Red Plate

Finding much success previously in both Europe and Japan, Scottish rider Billy Mackenzie added to his already impressive resume at the opening round of the Australian Motocross Championship at Horsham setting extremely fast lap times, qualifying in pole and taking the overall round win in convincing fashion.

KRT hopes to add another Red Plate to its arsenal at the second round of the series with Pro Lites rider Cody Mackie showing great form and sitting just 5 points shy of the series leader.

Kawasaki Racing Team Principal, Kevin Crutcher says, “We enjoyed a great start to the season at Canberra but the season has only just begun and there is still a lot more work to be done. Our goal is to gather all three red plates and with the speed both Cody Mackie and Luke Arbon are showing, that’s very achievable.”

“We’re all looking forward to Canberra and are confident of further success. I encourage everybody to make their way over to the Kawasaki pits where we’ll have our brand new KRT posters available with rider signings throughout the day”.

KRT’s Billy Mackenzie, Cody Mackie and Luke Arbon will be in action at the second round of the Australian Motocross Championship at Canberra this Sunday 18 April.

Team Report - Serco Yamaha Takes Podium At MX Nationals Season Opener

Kirk Gibbs got his championship campaign off to a flying start taking third place overall in the Pro Lites at the opening round of the Rockstar MX Nationals on his Serco Yamaha YZ250F over the weekend.

Gibbs showed plenty of speed, skill and fitness to round the day out on 60 points and equal second place but is given third on a moto finish count back.

Gibbs looked on song all day taking a good qualifying position and then posting three consistently good finishes, highlighted by the race win in moto two, to stand on the podium and shape as a serious contender in the title chase.

Kirk Gibbs

"It's always good to get the first round out of the way and rack up some good points along the way. I was able to take win in race two when it presented itself and put myself in good positions in the other two. I now have a good basis to mount a championship challenge," Gibbs explains.

Unfortunately, things didn't go quite so well for Ford Dale on his long awaited return to racing. Dale again showed blistering speed and qualified in second place, but was met with bad luck in a couple of the motos that saw him finish the day just outside the top 10 in 12th place overall.

"It wasn't the perfect day for me, but I will take the positives from it and improve my position at the Canberra round. We have 22 races to go, so it's a long championship and things will only get better from here," Dale says optimistically.

Team Owner Gavin Eales was also satisfied with what he saw on the track and also looks for big things at round two in Canberra.

"Gibbsy put in a good performance today and deserved his place on the podium. Ford just had some rotten luck, but it was his first national event since April last year, so he will pick it up as we go along and he will be back up front before long."
