Triumph Confirms 2011 World Supersport Commitments

Triumph BE1 Racing will enter the 2011 Supersport World Championship with an exciting line-up of British star Chaz Davies and all-action Italian rider Luca Scassa racing the factory Daytona 675s.

Davies, 23, stays with the squad for his second full season on the three-cylinder Triumph. The British racer currently lies fourth in the 2010 Supersport World Championship standings, having finished on the podium three times this season.

Meanwhile former Italian supersport champion Scassa, known to his many fans as 'The Rocker' will be making his debut in the middleweight class with Triumph. The 27-year-old from Arezzo is a popular figure in the international paddock and has been one of the sensations of this year's world superbike campaign, scoring several impressive qualifying performances and a string of top 10 finishes on a privately entered Ducati.

"I'm really happy to be doing a second year with Triumph and BE1 Racing", commented Davies. "It's a long time since I have been in that situation and I really want to take advantage of all the good work that we've done this year. I enjoy working with this team and we have plans to further develop the Daytona 675. We have shown this year that we can run at the front and we can only move forward in 2011".

Scassa added: "I have been riding 1000cc bikes in recent years but I have experience of supersport racing from the Italian championship. I am looking forward to riding the Daytona 675. This will be my first experience of a three cylinder bike and I think that the extra torque will prove advantageous at some tracks. BE1 Racing has ambitions to be at the very top and one of my motivations for signing is that I can see the desire to win in the eyes of Giuliano Rovelli (owner of BE1 Racing). It is important for me to be racing with a factory team again and I can see the great progress that Triumph has made in the championship over the past few years".

Owner Giuliano Rovelli said: "The renewal of Chaz's contract is the logical result of the excellent job he has done throughout the season. As well as getting onto the podium, Chaz has proved that he can take advantage of every situation thanks to the serenity with which he tackles his job and his exceptional poker of concentration. I'm convinced that as he is still young he's still got a lot of time to improve. Luca Scassa is the big news for 2011, he has impressed me for the determination he takes onto the track. He and Chaz will make up a strong pairing".

In addition to running Triumph's official entry in the Supersport World Championship, BE1 Racing will again run the ParkinGO European Series, a monomarque championship run at selected Superbike World Championship rounds using Triumph machinery.

Vittorio Iannuzzo signs with Triumph

Team ParkinGO Triumph BE1 Racing and Vittorio Iannuzzo have reached a deal that will see the latter race in the second half of World Supersport. The Italian will ride the Daytona 675 starting from the next round, held at Misano Adriatico and will therefore fill the void left by Jason DiSalvo's departure. Iannuzzo, who has been racing in Superbike in the last few seasons, won the European Superstock title with team Alstare in the seat of a Suzuki in 2003. He made his Superbike debut on the same machine the year after. Despite being born in 1982, Iannuzzo has raced for 12 seasons at world level and has the experience to reach important goals.

Vittorio Iannuzzo

Vittorio Iannuzzo: "I was close to signing with the team two years ago, now we've finally reached the deal. I'm sure I can score important results and I will work hard to get to grips with the bike as soon as possible. I'm going to be a factory rider yet again and this makes me really proud, so I would like to thank Giuliano Rovelli for giving me this opportunity. I haven't raced in Supersport for 5 years, my last season in the competition was in fact in the seat of a Suzuki, racing for team Alstare, where I scored great results. Now that I have more experience, I'm confident I can do even better".

Giuliano Rovelli: "After DiSalvo quit, we have received interesting proposals, but we chose Vittorio because we believe he possesses the talent to battle with the front runners right away and his riding style fits our machine's characteristics. I wish him the best of luck for his debut at Misano".
