Jay Marmont's MXoN Gear Up For Auction To Help Harley Quinlan

Limited Edition Fox MXON Gear

CDR Rockstar Yamaha's Jay Marmont has graciously donated his prized green and gold Australian Motocross of Nations Fox racing gear to assist in raising funds for fallen motocross rising star, Harley Quinlan.

The gear was worn by Jay in the 2010 Motocross of Nations event in the USA with a special place in motocross history and with Jay Marmont. Jay has signed the gear and then offered it to Harley in an enormous goodwill gesture that is a true testament to Marmont's character.

Quinlan fell off his bike in a training accident two weeks ago and is now in a wheel chair with serious spinal damage. Doctors have told Quinlan that he is unlikely to regain feeling in his legs and his chances of walking again are extremely remote.

A trust fund has been set up to assist Harley and his rehab costs while the motocross community rally around the popular and well respected racer.

Marmont's team issue green and gold gear is one of only a few sets made for Marmont and from his only appearance in the Australian team in his 20 years of racing.

"This gear means a lot to me as I know the work it took for me to be selected in the Australian Motocross of Nations team in 2010 and earn that spotto represent my country," Marmont explains.

"With Harley's injury he will have even more work ahead of him and I am hoping this gear can raise him some money to assist in his rehab costs," he finishes.

When told of the offer from Marmont, Harley was floored by the three time national motocross champions' kindness.

"Jay is a rider and a person that I have looked up to ever since I started racing. He carries himself well and races with a passion that I tried to emulate while I was racing. I can't thank him enough for this offer as I know how much the gear means to him," Quinlan says emotionally.

The gear can be found on EBay: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220700809876

The auction will run for 10 days so get in quick for your piece of motocross history and help out a fallen rider at the same time.

For those willing to donate money to Harley, an account has been set up.

Harley Quinlan Seriously Injured In Training Accident

Harley Quinlan

GYTR Rockstar Yamaha's Harley Quinlan suffered serious spinal injuries after a training accident on Tuesday afternoon.

He was immediately airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane where he underwent a series of tests and scans to determine the extent of his injuries.

The news wasn't good for the 19 year old, as Doctors confirmed he had severely damaged his spinal cord and had lost all feeling and movement from his chest down.

Surgery then followed on Wednesday morning to stabilize his condition and his spine was fused and pinned. Doctors have confirmed it is extremely unlikely that Harley will regain any movement or feeling below his chest, although suggest his shoulders and arms should regain movement.

Quinlan is only now starting to regain consciousness while family and friends have rallied around the downed rider.

The Quinlan family would like to thank everyone one who has contacted them and sent their best wishes for Harley and his recovery.

It was a tragic turn of events for the Yamaha star as he was in fine form and beginning to show the form that would establish him one of Australia's top racers.

Quinlan will be remembered as a big hearted racer who gave his all every time on the track. In his short career he racked up an impressive list of results but more importantly, was extremely popular with his fellow riders and within the motorcycle Industry. His riding talents will be missed.

"On behalf of Yamaha, we are shocked and saddened by the news of Harley's injuries. He has become one of the Yamaha Family since being drafted onto the first Yamaha Junior Development Team in Queensland in 2005 as a 13 year old."

"In that time he has grown into a consummate professional both on and off the track and his injuries have affected everyone at Yamaha."

"We send our thoughts, prayers and best wishes to Harley and the Quinlan family in this difficult time," says Motorsport Manager, Ray Howard.

The battle now begins for a long rehabilitation process for Quinlan that will require extensive stays in Hospital and long periods of physiotherapy. The cost of that process along with facilities for quality of life will mount quickly and a trust fund has been set up in Harley's name.

Any donations can be made to:
The Harley Quinlan Trust Fund
Bank of Queensland

BSB: 124041
Account Number: 21527566

Any overseas donations can be on the following account: QBANAU4B

Any donations would be greatly appreciated by the Quinlan Family and go directly to assisting his long road to recovery.

The qualities that made him a successful racer will be the same qualities that will drive his recovery. Passion, dedication, commitment and a driving will to succeed will see Quinlan overcome this set back.

Yamaha Young Guns Rock New Threads In 2010

The awesome foursome that is Yamalube / GYTR / Rockstar Yamaha will be AXO clad for the 2010 season after securing a major sponsorship deal with Ficeda Accessories.

Luke Styke

Luke Styke, Harley Quinlan, Ross Beaton and Shaun Redhead will be sporting the quality range of Ficeda products from head to toe, using Shark Helmets and AXO apparel for the 2010 motocross and supercross season.

After an ultra successful 2009 season, taking first, second and fourth in the Under 19 division of the MX Nationals and Shaun Redhead claiming a national junior championship, the Yamaha team were hot property during the off season and Ficeda Accessories were quick to snap up the young team and look forward to a successful association with the hard chargers of Australian motocross.

"We were looking at stepping up our sponsorship program and we feel this team is the perfect fit for us, states Ficeda racing manager, David Maddock. "The riders get results, the team generates plenty of publicity and they project a positive and refreshing image in Australian motocross. We couldn't be happier to be involved with them and look forward to a huge season with the team," Maddock finishes.

Rockstar Energy Drink has also stepped up and taken naming rights of the team alongside Yamaha's in house products Yamalube and GYTR. Rockstar have invested heavily in Australian motocross and the support of such a young team of riders shows they are as dedicated as any company to develop and foster racing talent and the future of Australian racing.

"To have Rockstar on board is a big deal to the team and the riders, says team leader Darren Thompson. "The public image of Rockstar and its standing among the youth of today is cool and the riders are extremely proud to be a part of the Rockstar team of athletes."

Galvin Construction will also continue to be heavily involved with the team for 2010, stepping up support even more after the success of 2009.

"I have been involved in motocross for a few years now and I am really impressed with the infrastructure Yamaha provide around these young riders. From the support of the senior teams in CDR and Serco, to the people that Yamaha have in place to guide them, I feel that the riders have a path and get every opportunity to develop and reach their full potential under this program," offers Steve Sweeney, the Managing Director of Galvin Construction.

The team hit the track in anger at the opening round of the Rockstar MX Nationals on March 28 at Horsham in Victoria. Luke Styke will be contesting the Pro Lite class, while Ross Beaton and Shaun Redhead will tackle the Under 19 division. Harley Quinlan will miss the first round as he recovers from injury but will be back in action at round two in Canberra.

"I look forward to see what these young riders can achieve in 2010, states Ray Howard. They all had great seasons in 2009 and have been working hard to continue on the good form. It is a credit to them that companies such as Rockstar, Galvin Construction and AXO were so eager to be involved and they assist them in reaching their goals and dreams.

Team sponsors for 2010 include Yamaha, Rockstar Energy Drink, Galvin Construction, GYTR,
