Rounds seven and eight of the AORC (Australian Off Road Championship) for 2011 were held over the weekend at Hastings Valley in NSW.

Saturdays round seven saw some fierce competition throughout the day, Husqvarna Racings Bartosz Oblucki and Glenn Kearney, sitting 2nd and 3rd respectively in the E2 championship standings coming into the Hasting Valley rounds, were looking to lock in strong performances for the penultimate rounds.

Husqvarna's Glenn Kearney made the most of the conditions to edge out Daniel Milner and finish a close second behind Chris Hollis with Bartosz Oblucki taking fourth place.

Husqvarna's Luka Bussa rode consistently throughout to finish fifth on the Saturday with a view to having a stronger result in Sundays round Eight.

Husqvarna TE 310 mounted Damien Smith dominated the Veterans category to take victory for Saturdays round Seven.

Sundays round eight had Kearney and Oblucki battling it out for second spot with Kearney edging out his team mate to again finish a close second behind eventual winner Hollis with Bartosz Oblucki in a hard fought third spot.

Round eight had Luka Bussa and the Husqvarna TE 250 pushing hard resulting in a strong third place behind former world champion Stefan Merriman and Ben Burrell.

AORC Championship standings after 8 of 10 rounds:
Enduro two (E2):

Glenn Kearney:
"I had a good weekend overall and the racing was great, the team and I have been working hard and it was a good result for all. With just two rounds remaining we will have to be on our game to secure the best finishes we can for Husqvarna."

Bartosz Oblucki:
"Saturday's racing wasn't ideal for me but some changes to the bike proved successful and Sunday was a much better day. It's still very close between Glenn and me so the next rounds are going to be vital to see who comes out on top."

Luka Bussa:
"The pace was really on this weekend and all up we had a strong result, it would be great to lock in a podium finish for the Championship so we will be working hard to make that happen. Again thanks to our sponsors, Link International, Motul products, RK chains, Pirelli tyres, JT sprockets, Polisport and Renthal."

Damien Smith:
I felt really good all weekend, I knew during the week that I was in for a good run- I just felt that everything was working well. I am stoked that my outright result was up there, it shows that when I can get all the stars to align I can still pull out some hot times.

Time for the NUDA 900 R - from Husqvarna Motorcycles

We are constantly being surprised by Husqvarna Motorcycles. First it was the Mille3 concept bike that was first unveiled at last year's EICMA motorcycle show in Milan. Then most recently it was the first showing of the new NUDA 900 R streetbike, which took place on 1 July as part of the BMW Innovations Day programme in Munich.

Of course, Husqvarna is not just about the off-road world - it has a long tradition with street models, dating back to the beginning of the last century and its origins as a motorcycle manufacturer. However, taking the covers of this latest machine marked a new and important chapter in the history of the brand, which has become synonymous with off-road success.

Until now, all its current range of models in the Cross, Enduro and Supermotard sectors have been derived from off-road machines. Not so the NUDA 900 R - this is a motorcycle from Husqvarna, conceived and designed for the street, matching German technical brilliance with thrilling Italian style.

The pictures don't do this machine justice - you have to see it 'in the metal' to appreciate its lines, character and undisputed aesthetic appeal. Being a Husqvarna, performance is everything, and thanks to BMW technology and the use of premium components throughout, the NUDA 900 R both looks and means business.

Its 900cc engine will output more than 100 bhp and 100 Nm of torque when it comes to the market later this year. However, the total dry weight of the NUDA 900 R will be less than 175kg - ensuring a more than healthy power-to-weight ratio. Expect it to handle beautifully, thanks to full-adjustable ?hlins suspension at the rear, and full-adjustable Sachs forks at the front. Monoblock radially-mounted four-piston Brembo brakes at the front ensure it will stop 'on a sixpence', while a trick exhaust system, equipped with carbon parts and valve will help it sound every inch a Husqvarna.

In taking the covers off the new NUDA 900 R, Husqvarna President Klaus Allisat said: "This is the first step of the collaboration between BMW and Husqvarna to develop new road bikes. This 900 combines Husqvarna's traditional sporting nature with BMW's engineering, technology and reliability. The core is the parallel 800cc two-cylinder engine also seen on the BMW F 800 R, but modified to give the bike a more typically aggressive, racing character. To reach this aim the engine was upgraded, increasing the capacity to 900cc and many internal components were modified to improve the performance of the power and torque curve.

"This new model will have more than 100 horsepower, but will be easy to handle thanks to its extreme lightness and the linear, fluid nature of the engine. The components will be top-notch too, just like our Husqvarna racing bikes. Our future road bikes will continue to have Husqvarna's DNA and, above all, our concept of riding, based on pleasure, power and flexibility."

The plan is to have the new 900cc NUDA in the showrooms by the end of the year, but for those who can't wait that long, a visit to husqvarna-motorcycles.com.au will provide lots of extra information, including action video, images, technical data, an interview with Husqvarna Style Centre manager, Raffaele Zaccagnini about the design of the NUDA, and an opportunity to subscribe to a newsletter to be kept informed about this exciting new motorcycle.

Husqvarna Racing's Alex Salvini to contest A4DE

Team Husqvarna to contest the A4DE

Husqvarna Factory rider Alex Salvini is set to join fellow factory rider Bartosz Oblucki for an assault on Australia's premier off road enduro event, the Australian 4 Day Enduro (A4DE).

The amiable Italian will bolster the already strong Husqvarna Racing rider roster for the event, which has become the second largest global enduro event behind the ISDE.

Salvini's impressive credentials should stand him in good stead as a genuine contender for victory in the prestigious event.

Alex Salvini
2007 1st ISDE (International Six Day Enduro) Chile
2008 Motocross of Nations Donington Park (UK)
2009 2nd MX3 world Championship
2010 2nd MX3 world championship
2nd ISDE (International Six Day Enduro)
Mexico, E1 class

These results coupled with a very successful list of victories in European and Italian championships will provide Salvini an excellent base for his competition debut on Australian soil.

Salvini will compete in the E1 Class at the event and will spend several weeks in Australia prior to the A4DE familiarizing himself with the conditions and working with the race technicians to develop a race ready package for the event format and course.
